What do you like about Board Game Geek?
What do you dislike about Board Game Geek?
What do you wish that boardgamegeek had that they don't?

It's the #1 place for board game content for a reason. Just the amount of stuff there is its greatest strength: reviews, forums, auctions, giveaways, the Geek Market, Geek Up bits, and all that. Apparently there can be a fair bit of toxicity on there, but I don't go there for the forums or anything so I don't see it.

Like - database, user collection/inventory, games played tracking, support files, forums for rules questions Dislike - zealous, heavy-handed moderation Improvements - consistent user interface. There is still some clean-up to be done between the old interface and the new interface - for example forums can display weird depending upon how you access them

Agreed, the heavy - handed moderation and self righteous toxicity of the place is what kills my participation , it may be great for a resource, but stay away from the dialogue there..
The only reason I ended up doing reviews here is that they kept labeling my attempted reviews on BGG as “spam”, and I am not the only one this has happened to

I would love an alternative to BGG! I almost never go there any more after they replaced their mascot with an orange squiggle because of 'muh racism' and turned into raving SJWs in the forums.
When EBG stood up to the mob I sat up and paid attention. Only problem is I mostly play Wargames and WBG doesn't seem to be covering that much. but I pop in every once in a while and if some wargames sections open up I will engage more.

BGG is a great source for files and general information, an okay source for ratings, and a horrible place for moderation.

What if we made an alternative to BGG vie EBG?

The difficulty is in reaching critical mass. Right now EBG doesn't have it and BGG is so big (relatively speaking) that it will be hard for EBG to get people to switch. People could (and do) interact with multiple sites, but human nature seems to be that they will mostly use one.
