After watching this video from Quakalope and seeing posts from publishers, what are your thoughts on Why every Kickstarter will be late - and might cost more.?

My thoughts are that I will be canceling many pledges. I can handle a single game costing 20 dollars more, but I have so many KS, Crowdox, Gamefound items due in the next few months there is no way I can afford them all. The companies that have communicated to me thus far on shipping have said that eating the price increase isn’t an option for them , it neither is it one for me. So I’ll be asking for a few refunds

I only have a couple games I've kickstarted. As long as it's not too much more, I'll be okay with giving a little more. I'm worried about my Everdell complete collection though

Waiting on Set A Watch: Swords of the Coin at the moment, and they're on hold thanks to shipping costs . Also Creature Comforts and the Everdell Complete Collection, but I really hope things start to stabilize before those ship.

The world moved to a just-in-time production and transportation model to save money. These systems are inherently fragile and now we are paying for it figuratively and literally. Additionally, there is high inflation in production costs for Chinese factories, so even if the ocean shipping rates come down there will still be upward pressure on board game prices.

I’ve backed the occasional Kickstarter since 2018 and only recently discovered that one fell apart completely and will not be providing refunds, whereas another can’t deliver on all promises. Backing Kickstarters in general has become increasingly off putting, even purely based on exorbitant shipping prices to Australia!

When I back a Kickstarter I am in effect giving them a 0% unsecured loan and in return the creator is generally assuming the risk of cost overruns for development, production, and shipping. The creators have been slow to recognize this. Kickstarters with long lead times will be hit the hardest with inflation and variable costs. I'm surprised more haven't failed already.

It's become more of a pre-order system. And as of late more of a PnP platform. Which I found interesting!
