I think I have played most of the Star Wars themed games out there from X-Wing to the 1970s Escape from the Death Star. My favourite has to be Legion. Great system which uses the 'surge' mechanic to add a lot of depth without a lot of extra complexity.

Is there a Star Wars Risk?

Is there a Star Wars Risk? There is indeed. The only similarity with Risk is the name. It's actually a pretty good game set at the end of Return of the Jedi as players use (scarce) cards to undertake a variety of actions be they moving and fighting with the fleet in space, progressing (or hindering) the rebel ground troops on the forest moon of Endor as they attempt to destroy the shield generator or the showdown between Luke and his dad in the Emperor's throne room. There are a few special unit but nothing too hard to keep track of. Components wise, the production values are pretty good with plenty of plastic spaceships. Well worth a try if you get the chance.

Posted this a while back on Reddit to talk about the Star Wars LCG, then on BGG:

Magic-style card game that does enough similar that fans of the genre will feel right at home, while at the same time doing enough different that it feels like it addresses much of what I feel are weaknesses in Magic in particular and TCGs/CCGs as a whole.
I can safely say that between it and other non-randomized expandable card games, I can never go back to TCGs or CCGs at this point.
