Mine would have to be Deck-building with Tableau building next. I like being able to creatively buy things. What about you?

Deck building can be very satisfying when the deck starts to come together. I also really like worker placement as it is often a fun puzzle to try to maximize output with a limited number of workers.

Lately I've been really into tile placement games. Castles of Burgundy and Terraforming Mars in particular.

I would think technically yes, though neither are really the type of game I meant. That being said, I love them both for different reasons and will never turn down a game of either

My answer is more broad and certainly biased, as it concerns a game system that I designed as opposed to a particular mechanic. The STORM system used D6s and allows players to; give, take, use, fight, search and move their way around. Painfully simple, but it has been designed as an introductory system to get newbies used to card management, resource management, combat, moving standees around the place, controlling AI enemies, trading and working collaboratively. As you can probably guess, I'm pretty proud of it What I love most about the system is the strategic subtleties that allow more experienced players to exploit the system while complete beginners can jump straight in and be up and running in a few minutes. Obviously I'm gonna push the first game using the system while I'm here too It's called the Gorgon's Loch, and the first expansion pack for it is currently live on Kickstarter (the Oakenwild Expansion). Also, I love the combat mechanic in Space Hulk and the radar blips system is awesome too. That can't be right, that's in the room! Game over man!
