We all have our personal likes and dislikes; as we get more into gaming, we can often get a good sense of whether or not we'll enjoy a game just but hearing it described to us. But this isn't always the case- sometimes we'll hear a game that sounds great, but just doesn't live up to the hype. But today I want to ask you: What games sounded like you wouldn't like them, but you ended up really enjoying? For me, I have to name Tales of the Arabian Nights. I normally seek games that are primarily about strategy, and eschew those that rely heavily on chance; Arabian Nights definitely falls into that latter category here. Despite this, I find it quite enjoyable, and keep coming back for more as I'm eager to explore more and more of that massive book of tales.

The idea of sitting around a table, picking up tiles and placing them on a board sounds like something my grandma would have enjoyed but wasn't enticing to me at all. But after one play I was hooked and now it is one of our most-played games!

I'm a big Monopoly Fan. Plus was a big fan of Stranger Things as well. But, the Stranger Things Monopoly that my wife got for me for Christmas sat under the tree (I mean on my desk for over a year) before I broke out the shrink wrap. I was pleasantly surprised!

Does it do anything different from normal Monopoly, or is it just a straight retheme?

Does it do anything different from normal Monopoly, or is it just a straight retheme? Yes there were some really interesting mechanics based in some of what used to be chance cards. It really threw the game upside down if I remember correctly. Turning those who loved monopoly and were pretty much winning into not winning and hating the game.
