Roll and move is one of the most enduring mechanics in the history of board games. This mechanic has featured in nearly all of the most successful tabletop games of the last 5000 years, yet it is largely derided by the modern board gaming community. In my video, I take a deep dive into this ancient mechanic and discuss whether this derision is truly deserved: www.youtube.com/watch?v=tThytMSZ_0k&t=1s What do you think?

Depends on how we're defining it. If we're talking strictly of games like Chutes & Ladders, then yes, it's a terrible mechanic that has no purpose in decent games. But if we're allowed to modify it- say using something like Echidna Shuffle's form where after the first turn, you automatically get the opposite side of the die next turn or something like Formula D where you have a degree of control over your roll, then it can work.
